For a brand there is always a perceived target audience they want to cater to. Sisley is a clothing brand that aims its clothing towards individuals that are or want to be trendy. Their focus to to keep people up to date on fashions and create the fashions of tomorrow. However, in this ad we see to models imitating the act of inhaling a questionable stimulant. This is highly questionable due to the fact that advertisements are what portrays the image of a brand.
PETA is an organization that is a group of people that work for the ethical treatment of animals. Often this organization uses controversial advertisements to get their message across, but personally I believe that this is not always the best way to convey a message. In this advertisement they attempt to create awareness to save the whales, but it also touches on those that might be overweight. Initially I said I was a little bothered by such advertising tactics, but after reading through their official website I can somewhat understand their reasoning for using controversial advertising. PETA is an organization that must use cost-free tactics to convey their messages and in order to do so plain advertising messages are not an efficient way to advertise. They must create a buzz over their advertisements in order to gather attention for their beliefs.
This Burger King ad is just another example of questionable advertising. The product in focus is the BK Super Seven Incher. The Seven Incher ad was released in the middle of 2009 to advertise Burger King's new sandwich. The idea behind this is to suggest that the Seven Incher was comparable to suggestive activities. Another portion of the ad that reinforces the idea that the ad is suggestive is in the fine print which says, "Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the
NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the
mind-blowing burger that comes with a single beef patty, topped with
American cheese, crispy onions and the A1 Thick and Hearty Steak Sauce."
