"It strikes a chord in its target audience."
The target audience of this brand is to individuals who are looking for makeup that has good product design, has great color choices, is easy to apply, and gives them confidence. Elain Colorist's main goal is "to make the connection between the inner soul and individual style." Through my advertising campaign I want to showcase to women and anyone else who hasn't felt confidence in themselves to develop confidence, overcome their past, and with these cosmetics take the first step into their new selves.
"It is consistent with the brand voice."
Elain Colorist devotes their efforts into creating a collection of makeup that creates powerful emotions of sensuality and sexuality to construct the image to give her emotional power to create her own uniqueness. Through this advertisement we show women that they do have the power to change themselves with just a touch of make-up.
"Your core idea is elastic—you can create many ads based on the original theme."
Each individual is unique and they all have different stories to tell. The original theme of this advertisement is to show women that change is possible and they do have confidence within themselves. One woman could have been pushed around all her life by her childhood friend and lost confidence in her self-worth/image. Another could have had a bad bout of acne and is afraid to try new products but with the help of Elain Colorist she is able to overcome her fears and find the beauty in herself again.

WEEK 9 EOC: For those who think young.
This is an advertisement showcasing Revlon's lip butter using the current face of the brand, Emma Stone. Compared to the predecessors of the brand Emma is noticeably younger than those who represented Revlon before her. She is a young actress that is one to watch for.
This is a Canadian advertisement for beer. In this commercial young adults across the world share their experience of having this beer and all these stories come down to one thing. There is a sense of fun and community that comes along with drinking Canadian beer.

WEEK 8 BOC: Progress on Final Project
After a week of milling over idea after idea on this final project I am feeling a somewhat exhausted. Initially advertising seemed like an easy enough job to do, but this project makes me realize there is a lot of brain power that goes into this profession. (I'm only doing a class assignment!) On the first day my personal struggle was wanting to pitch an idea that was good enough to be submitted, but instead of going up to pitch my ideas I would trash them on the spot. It was only towards the end of class that I was able to come up with something.
Through the week I couldn't get over the company, Elain cosmetics. It is somewhat of a small company and does not do any large advertising. One product that I was particularly fond of is their Bijou Beam lipgloss. It is a great lipgloss for those who are just starting to use make-up and are looking for a lip color that is subtle but still gives your lips that edge. My pitch was. "Elain Bijou Beam. Lipgloss that leaves you with a shine that gleams." I love the idea that just a little bit of product can give a woman an entire new look and a new confidence she did not have in herself before.
As far as where I am with my project I am still expanding on the ideas for my commercial. It is one that begins in the childhood stages of this girl's life that progresses into the adulthood of Sarah's life. She never thought of herself as pretty due to her childhood friend that repeatedly put her down for a good portion of her life. With Elain cosmetics she found confidence in herself and her smile.

WEEK 7 EOC
Elain Bijou Beam lipgloss, "Bijou Beam, lipgloss with a shine that gleams."
In the beginning frames of this commercial we will feature to children playing in their parents yard where little Johnny gets a little to rowdy with Sarah. He pushes her and makes fun of her for being ugly and having features of a witch. At this time these children are around the age of losing teeth and little Sarah has several gaps and due to lack of good dental hygiene she has traces of rotting teeth. Through childhood little Johnny continues to make fun of her.
In their young adult life Johnny becomes a hotshot popular kid whereas Sarah has been put out of the crowd, she isn't quite developed, to make matters a little worse she somehow adopts that typical "geeky" look. Hair parted down the middle, oval framed glasses, and all accessorized with a pair of braces. Johnny continues to poke fun at her and treats her as one of the guys.
After high school Sarah and Johnny are separated for a couple of years due to college. Johnny misses his childhood friend and calls Sarah up for a little meet-up at a local bar in their hometown.

WEEK 6 EOC: VINTAGE ADVERTISEMENTS
Discovering these ads make me feel a sense of nostalgia. Advertisements in these days were fun and creative.
